The Matriarch and Patriarch:

Alma Madrigal

Known as "Abuela," Alma is the matriarch of the Madrigal family. As the family's pillar of strength, Alma has the responsibility of maintaining the magical legacy. However, her rigid expectations sometimes create tension within the family, particularly with Mirabel.

Pedro Madrigal

Pedro was Alma's late husband and the father of Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. His sacrifice to protect his family led to the creation of the magical Encanto and the gifting of magical abilities to his descendants. Though he does not appear in the movie, his memory plays a significant role in Alma's actions and the family's history.

The Next Generation:

Julieta Madrigal

Alma's daughter and mother to Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa. Julieta has the magical ability to heal people with the food she cooks. Throughout the film, Julieta is shown to be nurturing and supportive, particularly towards her daughter Mirabel, who lacks a magical gift.

Agustín Madrigal

Julieta's husband and father of Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa. Agustín is a loving spouse and supportive father. In the movie, he encourages Mirabel to believe in herself, even without a magical gift.

Pepa Madrigal

Alma's daughter and mother to Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio. Pepa's magical gift is the ability to control the weather based on her emotions. Pepa struggles with managing her emotions, which can lead to chaotic situations when her feelings become intense.

Félix Madrigal

Pepa's husband and father of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio. Félix provides emotional support for Pepa, helping her manage her gift. He is shown to be caring and humorous, bringing a light-hearted atmosphere to the family.

Bruno Madrigal

Alma's son and the uncle of the younger generation. Bruno has the magical ability to see the future through his visions. He leaves the family after a vision predicts the destruction of the Encanto, and throughout the movie, his absence is a source of mystery and tension. Eventually, Mirabel discovers him hiding within the walls of the house, and together, they work to save the Encanto.

The Younger Generation:

Mirabel Madrigal

The main protagonist, Mirabel is the daughter of Julieta and Agustín. Despite not having a magical gift, Mirabel's courage and determination play a pivotal role in saving the Encanto and reuniting her family.

Isabela Madrigal

Mirabel's older sister, Isabela is the daughter of Julieta and Agustín. She has the magical ability to make plants and flowers grow. Isabela struggles with the pressure to be perfect and meet her family's expectations. Throughout the movie, she learns to embrace her authentic self and break free from the constraints put upon her.

Luisa Madrigal

Mirabel's older sister, Luisa is also the daughter of Julieta and Agustín. She possesses superhuman strength. Luisa's character arc involves grappling with the burden of her gift and the responsibility to be the strong one in the family. As the story unfolds, she learns to accept that she doesn't have to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders all the time.

Dolores Madrigal

Pepa and Félix's daughter, Dolores has the magical ability of super-hearing. Her gift allows her to hear even the faintest whispers, making her a source of valuable information. Throughout the film, Dolores supports Mirabel in her quest to save the Encanto and provides her with crucial insights.

Camilo Madrigal

Pepa and Félix's shape-shifting son, Camilo often uses his gift to entertain and lighten the mood. However, his character also explores the struggle to find one's true identity when constantly changing forms. Camilo's journey in the movie involves understanding the importance of being genuine and sincere.

Antonio Madrigal

Pepa and Félix's youngest son, Antonio can talk to animals. He shares a special bond with Mirabel, who helps him feel accepted and at ease before his magical gift ceremony. Antonio's character represents the innocence and wonder of childhood in the Madrigal family
